After deciding to follow Jesus…what’s next?…Baptism

Baptism is given to us by God

We see that Jesus was baptized during His time on earth.

“Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John tried to talk him out of it. “I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said, “so why are you coming to me?”

But Jesus said, “It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.” So John agreed to baptize him. Matthew 3:13-15

Baptism allows us to share our story

When we are baptized, we get the chance to share the ways God has impacted us and our testimony that Jesus has forgiven and saved us.

Baptism connects us to the larger story of God

Millions and millions of people have been baptized after coming to faith in Jesus. We get to share in the same unifying story because we all recognize that Jesus Christ has come for us, died for us, and been risen to life for us.

Matthew 28:19-20

“Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Baptism allows us to tell others about what Jesus has done for us
